Consultation and counseling are provided by Paul Alie, LICSW . Office appointments are available in Brookline and Newton, Massachusetts.

Consultation

This first session identifies what you'd like help with, the outcome you hope for, and a discussion of relevant background information.  You will be given a professional assessment of your situation and, if counseling is appropriate, an explanation of how counseling would be structured to meet your objectives. You will have an opportunity to ask questions to be sure that the assessment and recommendations make sense to you. The consultation is usually completed in an initial appointment.

Counseling

Counseling systematically addresses the identified problems. With an eye on achievable outcomes, counseling sessions evaluate progress, fine-tune strategies and adapt the plan to any changing circumstances. It is an interactive collaboration and you are encouraged to ask questions and provide feedback. There should be no mystery as to how the counseling process relates to your situation and your desired outcomes. The frequency and length of sessions are flexible and tailored to meet your needs.

Insurance

When medically necessary, services are reimbursable by health insurance as a mental health benefit. Paul Alie, LICSW is a participating provider for the following:

• All Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts plans
• All Tufts Health Plans
• Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
• Medicare

Other insurance plans may reimburse for these services if you have an out-of-network option.
